Hey everyone! I recently got a Samsung SSD T9 and noticed some references to the Samsung Magician software when I first opened it. I ran into some trouble trying to download that software. I also checked out some YouTube videos, and most of them just suggested reformatting the SSD but never mentioned the Magician software. Is that software really necessary? If I just go ahead and reformat the SSD without it, will that affect the SSD's capacity or performance in any way? I know it won't hit the promised speeds of 2GB/s, but I'm curious about how formatting might impact things.

Nah, the Magician software isn't needed at all. You can skip it and just reformat the SSD without any issues.
The Magician software mainly helps with maintaining the SSD, but you don’t need it just to wipe the drive. Reformatting without it is perfectly fine.
The Magician software is great for managing your SSD—like firmware updates and performance checks—but it's not a must-have. To wipe it clean, you can just use Disk Utility. I usually go to "View" and choose "All Devices" to select the SSD, then format it with a GUID partition. This should keep your speeds close to what’s advertised, especially if you've got a newer Mac with Thunderbolt support.
You're gonna want to use Disk Utility for this if you're on a Mac. It's located in /Applications/Utilities. For mac-only use, format it as APFS. If you plan to use it with Windows too, go for ExFAT.
