I've been trying to update my iPad mini 5 to iPadOS 18.7.4, which Apple claims should be available for my device. According to their website, this update is intended for various iPads, including the iPad mini 5. However, when I check for the update, only iPadOS 25.2.1 shows up as an option. I can't find an available beta update either; it insists that 18.7.3 was the last version. I've also checked other iPads, and none of them provide the option to update to 18.7.4. I'd appreciate any advice on how to get my iPad updated to this version! Additionally, I'm concerned about the new iPadOS 26, which has disrupted our multitasking workflows, particularly with Slide Over stacks in full screen apps. Updating isn't feasible for me without hampering how I use my iPad.

The thing is, iPadOS 18.7.4 is only available for iPads that can't run iOS 26 yet. Since your iPad mini 5 does support it, that’s why you’re not seeing 18.7.4 as an update option.
I see you mentioned needing Slide Over stacks for multitasking. Just so you know, these stacks let you run multiple apps in a minimized view while one app runs in full screen, which is great for managing communications without interrupting your main focus. So I totally get your concern about keeping it functional!
Can you check again which specific model you have? Only devices that aren’t eligible for iOS 26 can install 18.7.4, so your model being able to run the newer OS means it’s likely stuck on any update compatible with iOS 26.
