Hey everyone! I need some advice on whether I should upgrade my three-year-old gaming PC. Right now, I'm running an RTX 3060 Ti with 8GB, paired with an Intel i7 12700F (12-core), AsRock B660M Pro RS motherboard, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM (4x8GB), and a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD. I'm considering upgrading to an RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC with 16GB, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, a Gigabyte B850 ATX motherboard, 32GB ADATA XPG DDR5 RAM (2x16GB), a Crucial P310 2TB SSD, a Deepcool PN750M 750W PSU, and a Deepcool AG620 V2 CPU cooler. My current PC is starting to struggle with modern games at higher settings, so I want to make the jump before prices rise. What do you think? Any suggestions?

I wouldn't rush into a whole new platform. Just upgrading the GPU can definitely give you a boost without the hassle of switching everything out immediately.
If you’re looking at costs, check out the 9070 XT. It's usually cheaper than the 5070 Ti, yet offers similar performance. But watch for potential artifact issues if you go this route.
Yeah, it’s a bit cheaper, but I’d prefer the 5070 Ti for its reliability. I'm happy with my 3060 Ti, so I assume upgrading two generations up will only yield great results!
What resolution are you gaming at? The 3060 Ti is decent for 1080p, but it can struggle with newer titles at 1440p. If you're considering the 5070 Ti, I'd say get it now since it might soon be out of production. Test it out; if it's running well for you, great! If not, you might need to upgrade other parts too.
That's a good point! I recently switched to 1440p and was surprised how well my 3060 Ti held up. Games with DLSS run pretty smoothly, but I've had to tweak settings down in titles like Rust and GTA Online.
For me, I'm playing at 1728x1080p for FPS games, and I’m noticing some rough spots in performance after the upgrade.
I had a similar setup as yours and upgraded to the 5070 Ti from an 3080 Ti while keeping the same build. My frames were stable but the GPU was running at only 60% usage. After also upgrading the motherboard and CPU, the performance skyrocketed with the GPU hitting 100% usage. If you only switch out the GPU now, you might bottleneck it, so going all in could be best!
Exactly, I saw the same thing. Just upgrading the GPU can leave you underwhelmed if the rest of your setup is holding it back.
Honestly, I think it makes sense to go for the upgrade. I jumped from a 3070 to a 4070 Ti, and the performance boost was substantial. Just keep the NVMe drive; your 980 is still solid for gaming. Also, consider an 850W PSU for the 5070 Ti.
That's true! I found a new m.2 SSD that has faster read/write speeds than the 980. If I’m not overclocking crazily, do I really need more than 750W?

That's fair, a new GPU will definitely help, and it’s often the most cost-effective upgrade.
