Advice for Beginners in Programming

I'm relatively new to programming and have found everything to be quite manageable so far. However, I wanted to reach out and ask for advice on what helped others during their learning journey. This might be a bit of procrastination since I should be writing code, but I still want to stay on track!

A great tip is to set a project goal that challenges you, something realistic yet slightly beyond your current skills. It’ll force you to learn new concepts as you work on it. Don’t sweat about making it perfect—just get it done! Try building a Discord or Twitch bot. Include fun features like fetching jokes or basic moderation options, and you'll learn a ton! That's how I picked up Python, and it was super helpful despite having some prior coding experience.

What’s your ultimate goal with programming? Are you doing this as a hobby, looking to switch careers, or part of a course? Knowing your aim might help clarify what to focus on!

Once you've grasped the basics like syntax, loops, functions, and objects, start building something. It could be a simple to-do app or a weather app. The key is to stop just watching tutorials—get your hands dirty! You’ll pick up programming skills much quicker that way.

YouTube can be a great resource, but don't get stuck in a cycle of watching too much without actually coding. Interacting with others, like asking for advice here, can be more beneficial!
