Can I Stop iMessages from Being Delivered After Sending Them?

I recently sent a series of iMessages to a friend while their iPhone was turned off. Now that I realize they might come off as a bit crazy, I want to prevent those messages from reaching them when their phone powers back on. I turned off iMessage and MMS/SMS in my settings, then switched on airplane mode while keeping my Wi-Fi on. Will these messages be held back when their phone turns on, or will they still be delivered? I really hope there's a way to stop these messages from going through!

If you really want to stop those messages, you might need to get a little creative! One idea is to visit them before they turn on their phone and ask to borrow it. While you have their phone, you could delete the messages. Just be careful with that!

There's not much you can do at this point. The messages are waiting to be delivered whenever your friend's device is back online. Apple holds onto the messages for up to 7 days, so if your friend doesn't turn on their phone in that timeframe, they’ll drop it without notifying you. But honestly, practicing excuses might be the best way forward!

Unfortunately, as soon as your friend turns their phone on and it connects to the internet, those messages will go through. iMessages are stored in the cloud until the device is ready to receive them. So, prepare for those messages to appear, and maybe think of a funny explanation to go along with it!
