I'm trying to connect a 12V-2x6 cable to my 5080, but I've just changed my case to a Corsair 5400, and now the cable won't reach my GPU. My power supply is a Corsair RM1000x shift, and the cables are positioned differently now. Unfortunately, I can't return the PSU since I've had it for a while. Also, my GPU has a power connector that's embedded, so most 2x6 extensions available are 90 degrees, which won't fit. I've been struggling to find a straight cable, so I'm wondering if it's safe to connect a regular 12VHPWR extension directly to my 12V-2x6 cable?

I find it hard to believe that with a stock SHIFT cable and a 5080 in a 5400 case, you can't reach the GPU. Can you share some pictures of how you're trying to run the cable? Maybe the routing might be the issue. Also, is your PSU the first or second generation RMx SHIFT? The first one comes with a 2x 8-pin to 12V-2x6 cable, while the second comes with the native 12V-2x6.
I'd be a bit cautious about doing that. While it might work if everything is connected properly, using extensions can introduce extra failure points. I'd recommend looking into longer 12V-2x6 cables from reputable vendors like Cablemod, or consider a good quality 3x8-pin to 12V-2x6 adapter instead.
Did your 5080 come with an adapter? If it did, you might want to try using that to resolve the cable length issue.

It’s the first generation with the 2x 8-pin to 12V-2x6. I'll post some pics later to get more insight.
