Hey everyone! I'm currently using a custom fan curve on my RX 9070 XT, which means my GPU fans are always on and I don't have a Zero RPM mode. I'm curious if keeping the fans running continuously can affect their lifespan or performance over time. Or do you think it's actually better than having them turn on and off frequently? Just looking for some insights to ensure I'm taking the best care of my setup for the long haul. Thanks!

It's probably better to have them running all the time than to have them starting and stopping constantly. Plus, the airflow can keep other components cooler, which might help with longevity too. But honestly, if a fan does die, you can always swap it out later.
I’ve had an old 1050Ti since 2017 without a Zero RPM mode, so the fans have always been running. It's still working fine, just a bit louder now after all these years. In fact, I think having Zero RPM modes on newer GPUs could help extend the life of the fans since they wouldn't be spinning when not needed.
Honestly, I don't think it should be a big deal. If we're talking about years, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Fans are made to last a long time under steady use, and constant running might actually be less stressful than frequent stopping and starting.
Don't overthink it! Zero RPM is really just useful when the GPU isn't doing much work, like when you're just browsing or watching videos. Worst case, if something breaks after the warranty, it's usually easy to replace fans.
