Are There Any Good Flat Monitors Over 32 Inches That Aren’t Ultrawide or Curved?

I'm looking to upgrade my budget monitor and want something larger than 32 inches for 4K gaming. However, most options seem to be those ultrawide curved displays, which I'm not a fan of. Are there any good flat monitors available that meet my needs? Is there a real benefit to going with an ultrawide, or are they just taking up unnecessary space? My budget is around $1,000, and I've heard some people suggest getting a TV instead. Do TVs even have DisplayPort?

You can definitely get a solid flat OLED monitor for gaming. Dell has some great options too—maybe a bit boring, but their screens perform really well! Just specify that you want 4K and you're golden.

Yeah, I'm looking at about $1K and 4K, and since I play mostly RPGs, I'm okay with 60FPS.

I switched to a curved ultrawide and love it! But if you're set on flat, you might look into something like the Samsung G70B, which is a 32" 4K at 144Hz. It should be perfect if you're into gaming and doesn't take up too much space along with looking sleek.

Honestly, you might want to consider a 4K TV given your requirements; they usually offer better price points for bigger sizes. Just ensure you get one with good specs, like a 120Hz refresh rate for gaming.

Yeah, but a lot of TVs aren’t suited as monitors. If you go TV, make sure it’s an OLED; otherwise, you could be disappointed.

Honestly, you're better off getting a good OLED TV, like from LG. They’re great for gaming and you can likely find a decent one in your price range. Just keep in mind that there are some downsides when using a TV as a monitor, especially regarding refresh rates and response times. Definitely look into it before deciding!

What are the specific downsides of using a TV instead of a monitor? Last I checked, TVs used to lag behind in refresh rate and resolution... has that changed?

I wouldn't recommend just any TV; it’s essential to find a good OLED if you're planning to use it for gaming.

Ultrawide monitors do have their perks! They let you adjust your field of view in compatible games without distortion and can enhance immersion. Plus, they’re fantastic for multitasking with multiple apps open at once. So even though they take up space, they can be beneficial depending on how you use them.
