I'm currently testing out Zorin OS while considering a switch from Windows, and I'm really loving it. However, the absence of HDR support is becoming a major issue for me, particularly since I have a Philips Evnia 49-inch monitor that won't let me turn off HDR. Initially, it didn't bother me too much, but after playing POE2, the experience was just awful without HDR. As a Linux beginner, I'm looking for a distro that can deliver a user-friendly experience similar to Zorin but with HDR support. I've heard that Ubuntu 25.04, Fedora Workstation 24, and Cachy OS might have good HDR capabilities, but I'm unsure which one would be the best choice for me.

Definitely check out the desktop environments and their versions! Zorin's current version might be a bit outdated for HDR. Both Gnome and KDE support HDR, but you'll want the latest versions. Among the options you mentioned, I personally prefer Fedora if you're just starting out, but Nobara could also be a great choice for gamers since it comes preloaded with optimizations. Either should work well, so maybe try running Fedora from a live USB to see how it feels for you!
If you're looking for the best HDR support, you might want to go with a distro that uses KDE as its desktop environment. KDE has a solid HDR implementation and even includes a calibration tool. I recommend checking out Bazzite, as it's a distro that keeps KDE updated and is known for being low-maintenance, so you can just enjoy your experience without worrying too much about the technical stuff.
Do you know the version of the desktop environment you have on Zorin? Zorin 18 runs on Gnome 46, which is older and might not support HDR yet. They follow a long-term support cycle, so I wouldn’t expect HDR in Zorin until version 19. It's a bummer because the OS is great in many other ways!
