I'm really frustrated with Google and Android right now. I recently upgraded from my old Galaxy Note 9 to a new A16. Before trading in my Note 9, I factory reset it and removed my Google account. But now, when I try to sign into Google on my A16, it still wants to verify me using my old Note 9. Why is my account still linked to that phone? I attempted to sign out of the device remotely, and it seemed to work. However, when I tried changing my password, I received a message saying that it would sign out of everything except my Note 9 and my current A16, which feels ridiculous. Why is my old phone still signed into my Google account? I usually handle tech issues just fine, but this has me stumped.

You might want to check your Google account settings. There should be a section where you can view all devices associated with your account. You can also find an option to remove the old device from this list. That should hopefully free it from being linked to your account.
Just to clarify, you're not going to get help directly from support with account issues like this. They can’t remove devices on their end, but troubleshooting and checking your settings is the best way to resolve it yourself. Good luck!
It sounds like your Note 9 isn't actually signed into your Google account anymore, which is why it can't be removed when you change your password. Just try logging into your Google account on the Note 9 again temporarily, and once you're in, you should be able to remove it from your account settings.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll try to follow up on the suggestions to see if it works.
