Why is My UPS Output Voltage Lower in Battery Mode?

Hey everyone! I recently got a line-interactive UPS with simulated sine wave output. I've noticed that when I switch to battery mode—either by unplugging it or during a power outage—the voltage readings I get with my multimeter are lower than expected. The light I tested also shines less brightly. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it normal for a brand new UPS? Thanks in advance!

From what you mentioned, it seems like you might be reading around 140V while your UPS is supposed to output 220V +/- 10%. That's quite a bit lower than expected. With no load, it should generally be closer to the rated output. You might want to consider if there's an issue with the UPS itself.

It sounds like you might want to check the voltage readings you're getting. What specific voltage are you seeing? Different UPS systems can have varying outputs, so knowing the exact value helps. In many places, mains supply voltage can fluctuate a lot, and your UPS should ideally output close to its specified range.
