How Much Should It Cost to Deep Clean My Laptop and Change Thermal Paste?

I'm looking for some guidance on getting my HP OMEN 16 cleaned out. It has an i7 14th gen processor and an RTX 4060 GPU. My main concern is getting a deep cleaning done, and I want to know how much I might expect to spend, especially since I'm in India and live in a remote area. Also, I'm considering changing the thermal paste—I've heard good things about PT50—and want to know if it's a good idea after about 6-7 months of use. Currently, my laptop heats up to around 95°C while gaming but sits at a normal 40-50°C otherwise. I usually clean the vents from the outside, but I couldn't access the interior, so I'm thinking of heading to a service center (not the HP one). Any tips on pricing and what to expect would be awesome!

High temps in gaming laptops can happen due to their design. Since your laptop is only around 6-7 months old, the thermal paste should still be in decent shape. As long as you’re getting good performance and stability, it's usually not urgent to replace it. By the way, using a cooling pad is a smart move; it really helps with keeping temperatures down while gaming. If you think there's a lot of dust inside, though, a deep clean could be beneficial. Just make sure you compare repair prices beforehand to avoid getting ripped off!

Yeah, I hear you! Dust buildup can definitely affect cooling, so if you notice it's getting too hot, a cleaning would be worth it. Just try to find a reputable place that won’t overcharge.

In general, if you're not experiencing performance problems, you might be okay not cleaning just yet. But if you can see a lot of dust in the vents or feel it heating up a lot, then it might be time. Cleaning usually isn't too pricey—around 1000-2000 INR depending on your location. As for the thermal paste, replacing it every year or two is common, especially if you plan on using your laptop heavily.

That's good advice! If you decide to clean, make sure they also check the thermal paste just in case. You don’t want to risk overheating, especially during long gaming sessions!
