Looking for Budget to Midrange Motherboard Upgrade Advice

I'm considering an upgrade for my motherboard but I want to keep it budget-friendly and focus on midrange options. Here's my current setup: an Intel i5-12400F CPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6000MHz, an RTX 4060 (with plans to upgrade to an RTX 5060 in the near future), and a 650W PSU. Right now, I'm using an ASUS PRIME H610M-K DDR5 motherboard.

I'm eyeing three specific boards:
- ASRock B760M-HDV/M.2
- ASRock B760M Pro RS
- Gigabyte B760M D3HP

I really need to stick to a limited budget, so I'm open to other suggestions as well. My main questions are:
- Will I lose performance on my i5-12400F or the RTX 5060 if I choose the cheaper ASRock HDV?
- Is it better to invest in the Pro RS now and put off my GPU upgrade for a while, or should I just get the HDV and focus on upgrading the GPU?
- Are there any significant downsides to these budget motherboards, like VRM quality issues or anything else I should be aware of?

Why only go one generation up on the GPU? If you're already on a 4060, I'd recommend something more substantial like the 5060 Ti or even a 5070 for a noticeable performance gain instead of small incremental updates.

In my area, the better options are way too expensive compared to the 4060. But I've found good deals on the 5060 that aren't much more.

Upgrading your motherboard doesn't usually lead to performance gains unless you're getting a new CPU that requires it or you absolutely need features like extra USB ports. If your board isn’t broken, it might not be worth it just for the sake of change.

Is VRM quality really that important for CPU performance? I thought about upgrading just for better VRM and some RGB options.

If you're planning to stick with the same setup, upgrading the motherboard seems pointless. If you need more ports or connectivity, then sure, but maybe you should consider upgrading your entire platform along with the motherboard.

That's a strong point. If I have to upgrade from the i5-12400F, what's a good option moving forward?

Honestly, I feel like it's a waste of money unless you're switching to a new socket. Save that cash for a better CPU or GPU instead—those upgrades will give you a bigger performance boost.

I get what you're saying, but I think I won't lose money if I go for the B760M HDV. The Pro RS, on the other hand, feels like a loss.
