Hi all, I'm new to AWS and recently learned I have over $300 in charges, even though I thought I had closed all my instances. It turns out the charges are coming from EKS clusters that I wasn't aware were still active. This is a huge amount for me right now, and I've already deleted all the EKS clusters, volumes, and instances. I've reached out to AWS support but haven't received a response yet. I'm hoping to figure out what options I have to get this amount reduced or waived. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There's not much anyone here can do, but definitely keep trying to reach AWS support directly. They sometimes can waive fees if you explain your situation, just make sure to learn how AWS pricing works before spinning up resources next time. You might want to post in the AWS community for more insights too.
Make sure to ask AWS about waiving your charges. They’ve waived larger amounts before! Setting up a billing alert for your budget is a must; I suggest keeping it at a dollar when you're not using anything to avoid surprises in the future.
Absolutely, setting billing alerts should be a priority for anyone using cloud services.
You could try running something like "aws nuke" to make sure everything is deleted thoroughly. They might forgive your charges since you're just starting, but don’t expect them to do it solely based on leaving instances running. Just keep your fingers crossed!
I just heard about this nuke command! I’ll definitely give it a shot. I really hope they can help me out.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check out the AWS community as well.
