How long does it usually take to fix a MacBook and what are the potential costs?

I dropped my MacBook Air on carpet about two weeks ago, and there's a crack on the display. The screen isn't actually cracked when I touch it though. I have an appointment at Apple tomorrow at 11 AM. Does anyone know how long the repair might take or how much it will cost? I also have AppleCare for my fairly new laptop that I purchased in June 2025. Does that affect anything?

The time it takes to fix your MacBook really depends on the store and what exactly needs repair. Since you have AppleCare, you should just be paying the deductible, which is great!

With AppleCare, you’re looking at a cost between $99 and $299 in the USA, depending on the type of damage. As for the repair time, they typically aim for 3 to 7 days, but this can vary. They’ll give you a more accurate timeline during your appointment.

The max you’d pay is $299 plus tax for the repair, and it’ll likely take a few days. The specific time frame really depends on the location and what other jobs they have when you go in. They'll be able to give you a better estimate once you check in.
