Why won’t my PC boot with mixed RAM?

Hey everyone,

I'm having an issue with my Asus Prime B650-A II motherboard. I currently have Vengeance white RAM DDR5 5600 32GB, and I also used to have DDR5 6000, 64GB in another PC. When I try using just the white RAM, the PC boots fine. The same goes for the black RAM—no issues there either. However, when I try to use both RAM sticks together, my PC doesn't post. I even tried resetting the CMOS with a screwdriver, but that didn't help either. Since both RAM sets work individually, I'm puzzled. Any ideas on what's going wrong?

Thanks for your help! Update: I've solved the issue! Appreciate all the feedback!

It sounds like it could be an issue with the stability of your motherboard when using four sticks of RAM. Mixing different speeds and capacities often leads to problems. If both sets work fine on their own, it might be best to stick with just the 64GB. Stability is key!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely stick with the 64GB for now. They are both Corsair Vengeance, but you make a good point about the mixed speeds and capacities.

Mixing RAM kits can lead to issues, especially when you combine different speeds and capacities. It’s usually not a good idea. Are you sure you need that much RAM? Sometimes less is more, especially if your setup runs well with what you already have. Just a thought!

Haha, don’t judge me too harshly! I play Star Citizen, and having as much RAM as possible definitely helps with performance. I’m just trying to use parts from my older PC.

I'm not an expert either, but from what I know, mixing RAM speeds usually leads to compatibility issues. It’s generally safer to use identical RAM sticks.
