Hey everyone! I've recently gotten into iPods and have a few Classics with iFlash storage installed. I love using the stock OS and can easily transfer music through iTunes on my Windows 11 machine. However, I've switched to using Fedora with the GNOME desktop environment on my laptop as my daily driver. I'm looking for a way to transfer music from my laptop to my iPods similar to how I do it with iTunes on Windows. Is there any software that can help with this, or am I limited to using Rockbox? I'd appreciate any advice you have!

I tried a bunch of open-source apps for my iPod and it was hit or miss. In the end, I just set up a Windows virtual machine. It’s mainly for iTunes, but it also helps with other utilities that are Windows-specific. Sometimes it's just smoother that way!
Honestly, iPods are pretty much locked down with Apple's software. Some Linux apps do work, but none are perfect. I ended up getting an old MacBook to run macOS because it was way less frustrating for music transfers. But hey, you can't beat the ease of Apple products when they're all working together!
Have you checked out gtkpod? It should be available in the Fedora repositories and could be a solid option for managing your music transfers!
There are a few music managers that can work with the iPod, but I've had the best luck with Amarok. If you're curious, there's a ton of info about various iPod file managers on Wikipedia that you can check out.
You might want to try running iTunes through Wine or using Lutris or PlayOnLinux. Just remember that not all versions work seamlessly, so you might need an older version of iTunes for it to function properly.

Yeah, Amarok has been a classic choice for many. Just make sure you go through its settings; it can be tricky to get it to recognize the iPod sometimes.
