Installing Linux on Lenovo Legion Pro 7: What You Need to Know

I'm planning to install Linux Mint on a Lenovo Legion Pro 7 Gen 10 with either the 9955HX or 9955HX3D processor as soon as I get it. However, I'm a complete beginner with Linux—it's been ages since I used Ubuntu. I have Ubuntu running on a miniPC that works fine, but I've heard that the Lenovo might have issues with WiFi or might require the graphics to be set to dedicated mode. Can someone break down the essential steps I need to take after installation?

I've installed Mint on several devices including desktops and laptops, and generally, it's smooth sailing right from the get-go. If you have a good installation, Mint's user-friendly welcome screen gives some handy tips to get started. I recommend checking for updates and installing any necessary drivers right away. Also, once you've set things up, consider using Timeshift to create a system snapshot—it’s like a safety net in case something goes wrong later!

So, is a Timeshift snapshot like a Windows restore point?

I've been running Linux on a Lenovo Pro 7 with the 9955HX3D for a few weeks now. Most things are working well except for a few annoyances. First off, the WiFi and Bluetooth don't function at all for me, so I ended up using a USB dongle for both. There are also sound issues that require some patching, but it's not the end of the world. Also, Mint might not be the best choice due to outdated kernels; I’d recommend trying Cachyos or another Arch-based distro instead.

Thanks for the insights! Should I skip Mint altogether? Or would it just come with extra troubleshooting?
