I'm trying to find specific emails in some older PST files from 2002 to 2006 using Outlook. I uploaded the files to the classic version of Outlook, but when I perform an advanced search, nothing comes up, even though I know there are emails matching my search criteria. I heard that advanced search might not work on these older PST files—can anyone confirm this? What alternative methods do you recommend for searching through these older PST files? Any tips would be appreciated!

Another thing you could try is to create a new PST file and import the old one into it. This sometimes helps revive the indexing features. Or, you might want to consider using a PST management tool; I've heard SysTools is quite good for extracting emails from old formats.
If indexing isn't working for you, a good option could be to download a tool like XstReader to directly access the PST files. It might make your search faster and easier without relying solely on Outlook.
Lastly, just a thought—if your PST file is the older ASCII format, you might have better luck converting it to a newer format before searching. There are guides online on how to do that. Good luck!
You might need to check if the indexing is done. Sometimes, it takes a while for Outlook to index PST files, especially if they're older. Maybe open the PST, take a break for a bit, and then check back later to see if the indexing works?

Yep, that sounds right! Give it time and check again.
