Is Listing My Home Kubernetes Lab on My DevOps Resume a Good Idea?

I've built a multi-node Kubernetes cluster at home using Multipass VMs and kubeadm, and I've installed Grafana and Node Exporter for monitoring, plus Argo CD for GitOps deployments. I'm wondering if recruiters will see this as real work experience or just a personal project. Should I categorize it as a homelab, a personal project, or does it qualify as real DevOps experience?

Absolutely! If you’re a junior in your career, it definitely shows initiative. Just present it as a project rather than a job to avoid giving the wrong impression.

Yeah, I suggest listing it under personal projects. Highlight the skills you acquired (like Kubernetes and Grafana) but avoid framing it as professional work. It shows you’re hands-on and engaged in learning.

You should totally go for it! Home labs can reflect genuine interest and capability. Just be honest about it, and it could spark some great conversations in interviews.

As a hiring manager, I'd appreciate seeing this on a resume. It shows that you're passionate and willing to learn outside of professional settings. Just make sure to explain what specific challenges you tackled in your homelab.

You can definitely include it! Just be prepared to discuss your setup and what you learned from it. As long as you can articulate your experience, it can be a valuable addition to your resume.
