I recently got a System 76 machine running Pop OS, and I'm looking into running Windows 11 Pro in a virtual machine since I occasionally use Adobe Premiere Pro and other creative applications. I'm curious if it's possible to run Windows 11 from a disk image stored on an internal NVME drive formatted with EXT4, which isn't my OS drive. I'd still like to access that drive from the host OS, Pop OS, when the VM isn't running. Additionally, I have a Samsung T7 SHIELD USB drive coming soon; should I consider using that for the VM instead?

Absolutely, you can place your VirtualBox disk image on another drive. Just make sure whatever drive you're using is accessible when you're running the VM.
If you're thinking about using QEMU/KVM, that's also a solid choice! You can definitely host your disk image on any writable file system. So whether it's on a USB drive, an NVMe drive, or even an SD card, it should work fine. Just be aware that speed can vary based on the medium you choose!

Yeah, just keep in mind that some drives might be slower than others, especially if they're using older connections like USB 2.0.
