What are the best Linux distros for someone transitioning from Windows?

I'm thinking of switching to Linux after using Windows for a while, and I was initially recommended Linux Mint, but I've heard there are better alternatives now, like Bazzite. Any suggestions for other options? My plan was to install everything on a second SSD, but with the cost of 4TB SSDs skyrocketing to about $900, I'll have to make do with just one. I'm looking to fully transition away from Windows, so any advice on doing this effectively with just one SSD would be appreciated. I have a solid background in PC usage, especially from my years of video game modding, so I'm comfortable with command lines, but I do prefer a simpler approach.

For a smooth experience while learning, I recommend keeping things simple. Popular choices for beginners are Linux Mint, Ubuntu, or even Fedora Workstation. If you're looking for something a bit more customizable, EndeavourOS could also be a good fit.

I started with Zorin OS and had a great experience, but I ended up trying a bunch of distros before settling on Linux Mint XFCE. It works well with older hardware and has a solid support community. I do keep Fedora around for my gaming rig, though!

Linux Mint is still a popular choice for newcomers from Windows since it's user-friendly. Bazzite, on the other hand, is geared more toward gamers, similar to Steam OS. If you're looking for a smooth transition, Mint is probably the way to go.

If you’re hesitant to erase Windows right away, consider using a Virtual Machine to test different distros. Just be careful with your disk space, especially since you’re already at 4TB. Partitioning could be tricky, but it’s a solid way to try various setups.

ZorinOS is designed specifically for users transitioning from Windows, so it might be a great fit for you! Its interface is very familiar if you're used to Windows.
