I'm confused about choosing a Linux distribution for gaming because there are so many options out there! I've heard that the graphics drivers are crucial and that all distributions perform similarly once the drivers are set up, but I'm really looking for some advice on which ones are the best for gaming. As long as I can run Steam and Discord, I'd like a distro that's beginner-friendly. Any recommendations for names or resources would be super helpful, as I'm quite new to all of this. I'm just tired of dealing with Microsoft's issues and want something reliable. Thanks so much for any suggestions!

Have you considered Bazzite? It’s built specifically for gamers and comes preloaded with Steam, which is a nice touch. Just make sure to download the version that matches your GPU (Nvidia/AMD). It’s user-friendly and seems to work well for gaming.
For gaming, you really can't go wrong with more popular distributions like Ubuntu or Fedora. They're beginner-friendly, and there's a ton of support out there. Once you get the graphics drivers sorted, you'll be in great shape! Enjoy your journey into Linux!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check them out <3
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Most gaming distributions are just regular distros with some extra gaming packages. If you have recent hardware, almost any up-to-date distro should work. Just steer clear of more advanced options like Arch or Gentoo if you're new, since they can be tricky. I recommend trying beginner-friendly ones like Linux Mint or Zorin OS instead for a smoother experience.
If you want to simplify things, go for the big names like Debian, Fedora, or the easy-going ones like Mint. They all have solid support for gaming and won't give you too much hassle. Keep an eye on your graphics drivers as they are crucial for gaming performance, especially with AMD cards. Also, check compatibility for the games you want to play on sites like ProtonDB.
I recently switched to Nobara and have had a great experience with it. It's based on Fedora, which means it’s stable and comes with some tweaks for gaming. Definitely worth checking out!

I second Bazzite too! It's super easy to navigate and has everything you need right out of the box.
