I've been on the hunt for a 5090 but the prices are pretty outrageous. I was recently offered a 4090 for half the cost of the 5090. Given that I'm mainly going to use it for gaming, is the 4090 a better option? Just to add, my monitor supports 4K at 240Hz.

You're not going to hit 240Hz on demanding games anyway. Lots of new titles won't push beyond 150-200 fps even with the best setups.
If it's half price, go for it! The 30 series still holds up well, and a 3090 can match fps in some cases. The 4090 seems like an unbeatable deal here.
The 4090 is more than capable for 4K gaming. If most titles won't even max out at your monitor's refresh rate, why spend the extra dough on the 5090? Stick with the 4090!
Honestly, for half the price, the 4090 is a solid choice. You're looking at about 30% better performance with the 5090, but paying double just doesn't make sense for most gamers. Plus, if you have a 4K 240Hz monitor, the 4090 will still give you great performance without breaking the bank. Save those extra bucks for games or accessories!

Exactly! And you'll still hit decent FPS on a 4K monitor.
