I recently bought a YOTUO 500 GB external hard drive from Amazon, and initially, everything seemed fine. However, when I tried to download Genshin Impact with the drive connected, the download got stuck at the verification stage and then failed. I thought it might just be an issue with that game, but I encountered the same problem with Arknights Endfield. During verification, I also heard the sound as if the hard drive was unplugged, but it was still connected. The game client then crashed, and when I disconnected and reconnected the drive, I got a popup saying there was an error with the drive and suggesting I scan it. I did a scan, but it found no errors. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the games, and I also restarted my laptop, but nothing seems to work. My laptop recognizes the drive, so I'm wondering if it's defective or if there's an issue with my laptop itself.

Where did you purchase it from? Sometimes cheaper brands can be less reliable. I've heard the situation where drives appear to have less capacity than advertised can happen often. There are tools available to check the actual capacity, but I’m not sure which ones are the best to use.
You might want to avoid lesser-known brands like YOTUO. They can often have quality issues. If your laptop recognizes the drive, that's a good sign, but the performance problems can indicate that it may not be very reliable.

I got it from Amazon, and I noticed mine only has about 465 GB instead of the full 500. It's kind of misleading!
