Hey everyone! I have a bit of a situation. I accidentally enabled BitLocker on a drive that I was using for work, which also contains personal pictures of my kid that I'd really like to get back. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm hoping you can help me find a reliable option to recover my data. I've seen many services out there, but some look a bit sketchy. Any recommendations for trustworthy places to send my drive? Thanks in advance!

First things first, I'm really sorry to tell you this, but without the recovery key, your data might be lost for good. If you haven't already, check if you saved the key to your work account or Microsoft account. You could have a chance at recovering your files if it's there! If you're not sure, it's worth reaching out to your IT department too—they might have a copy.
If you enabled BitLocker on your work PC, definitely check with your IT team. They often manage those keys. If it's on your personal PC, you can try logging into your Microsoft account and head over to aka.ms/myrecoverykey—might be your best shot!
Heads up: if you used a TPM-based unlock when you set it up, the original system needs to stay in place for it to work. If you still have that PC, try logging in there and using any passwords you remember! It's crazy, but sometimes simple passwords still work with BitLocker.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll reach out to IT and see if they can help.
