Advice for Building a Budget PC for My Mom

Hey everyone! I'm planning to build a PC for my mom since her laptop is getting really slow. She primarily uses it for light tasks like downloading music and movies, checking her bank accounts and emails, and using Word and Excel. I want something that will last a while but doesn't need to be super powerful. I'm considering using integrated graphics but I'm unsure if any CPU can handle that without a dedicated graphic card.

I have a budget of 1000€ for the whole setup, which includes a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Here's what I've picked out so far:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (160€) - open to suggestions since there are other options around the same price, like the 5700X.

- **Motherboard**: GigaByte B550M Aorus (95€) - looking for a micro ATX motherboard.

- **RAM**: G.Skill 2x8GB DDR4 (150€) - I went for DDR4 because it's cheaper than DDR5 right now.

- **Tower**: Aerocool micro ATX case (40€) - I don't want to overthink this but I'm open to ideas.

- **Power Supply**: Be Quiet Pure Power 12 650W (90€) - I like this brand and think it will be quiet and reliable for light use.

- **Keyboard/Mouse**: A combo from Trust for 15€.

- **Storage**: WD Blue M.2 SSD for the OS (120€) and a WD 1TB SATA disk for 80€, providing lots of space for her.

- **Monitor**: Planning to buy a cheap second-hand monitor to save costs.

So far, I'm at 750€ without the monitor. I would really appreciate any feedback or cost-saving tips!

You don’t need a dedicated graphics card for those tasks! The Ryzen 5 5600G has built-in graphics that will be more than enough for your mom's needs. Just make sure you stick with a ‘G’ model CPU if you want to go that route. As for the DDR4 vs. DDR5 situation, you’re on the right track—this CPU and your motherboard only support DDR4, so there’s no need to look at DDR5 for this build. Everything else seems solid!

Yeah, I agree! Integrated graphics can handle basic use well, and your build looks really balanced for what your mom will be doing.

Have you tried using pcpartpicker for your build? It can help you see local prices across different EU sites and make it easier to spot any potential compatibility issues. Plus, it’d help you stay within budget.
