My old laptop recently gave out, and I'm considering a new one, specifically the Framework Laptop 13. The problem is that I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to technology—I've always used Windows and the thought of setting up an OS, especially Linux, is quite daunting. I'm worried about spending money on a laptop I'll struggle to use. How user-friendly is Linux for someone like me, who has zero experience with modifying systems and tends to feel overwhelmed by tech stuff?

If you're unsure about managing a Linux installation, consider going for a refurbished ThinkPad. They are affordable and have great Linux support. Aim for models like T14, X1 Carbon, or T480—these come with plenty of RAM and can run pretty much any Linux distribution smoothly. Plus, if you want, you can set it up to dual-boot with Windows later on! The Framework is a solid choice, but it’s pricier than alternatives.
Honestly, it really depends on what you plan to do with the laptop. If you choose one that comes pre-installed with Linux, you’re more likely to have an easy experience right out of the box. What kinds of tasks do you want to accomplish with the laptop? That could help narrow things down!

Just for work and video calls. I’m mainly looking at Linux as an alternative to Windows and Apple.
