I'm dealing with a frustrating situation where I've been targeted by a troll who seems to be exploiting bugs on the platform. It started with a comment about politicians, and after I blocked one user (who goes by Mcnuttey91), they came back under a different account, WattMotorCompany. This new account has been sending me repeated offensive messages, and the worst part is, they blocked me first, making it impossible for me to report or block them. I've tried to view their profile to block them, but I keep getting told the user doesn't exist. I'm really at a loss here—how do I handle this harassment and report this user effectively?

You should definitely contact Reddit support directly. You've got the usernames, so they should be able to investigate. But be prepared for a bit of a hassle; dealing with support can be frustrating.
You might want to reach out to the moderators of the sub where this is happening. They may have more tools to help in this situation. But honestly, sometimes it’s best to step away for a bit; trolls thrive on engagement, so don't give them the satisfaction.
I did reach out to the mods, but the troll seems really committed to their antics with multiple accounts. It's kind of shocking that after 21 years on this platform, Reddit still hasn’t figured out how to handle this kind of abuse.
The best practice is to avoid engaging with trolls. It can get really weird when politics are involved online, and some users take it way too far. Just don't give them any more fuel for their fire.
That makes sense, but when they’re harassing you directly, it’s hard not to engage. It should be easier to block or report them.

I tried to contact them through the help subreddit, but it was a nightmare. They removed my post super fast and sent some bizarre notifications about mental health resources that had nothing to do with what I was asking.
