Help! Just built my first PC and it’s not detecting input from the GPU

I recently put together a 5080 mini PC, but I'm having a problem where it's not detecting any input, despite the power being on. The GPU fans aren't spinning either—should I be concerned about that?

Can you share the list of parts you used? That might help narrow down the issue.

Sure! Here’s my build: ProArt 5080, B850m Riptide motherboard, A3 MATX Lian Li case, A850GL PCIe5 power supply, PCIe Gen 5 NVMe 2280 M.2 SSD 1TB, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Micron Crucial DDR5 32GB RAM.

Don't stress too much about the fans not spinning. Many GPUs have a zero RPM mode, meaning they won't start spinning until they hit a particular temp, which can be as high as 54C. Also, if you're using DDR5 RAM, it can take a while to train on first boot—some people say to just let it sit and not touch it for about 30 minutes. Give that a try!

Yeah, I do have DDR5, so that makes sense.

I'm assuming you're using a DisplayPort cable for connecting your GPU to the monitor, right? That can make a difference too.

Have you tried pulling out the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes and putting it back? That can sometimes reset things nicely.

The fans should typically spin when you first power up the card. If they're not, check if your power supply is adequate for the build. Since it's a mini PC, make sure there’s no PCIe riser obstructing anything—double-check that all components are seated correctly.

What's a PCIe riser? I don't think I have one.

Thanks for all the help, smartass!

First off, make sure your monitor is connected to your GPU and not to the motherboard. Also, it's normal for GPU fans to not spin if they're not under load. They often just sit idle until they reach a certain temperature.

Yes, I'm sure it's plugged into the GPU.

I can show you pictures if needed. The GPU appears to be powered on.
