My graphics card, a 3060 Ti, just gave out after five years of use. There were no warning signs like artifacts or overheating—just a sudden issue that I suspect could have been caused by an electrical surge. Initially, I thought my power supply might be the problem, but there were no signs of damage. I even did the paperclip test on the PSU, and it worked. However, whenever I connect the PCIe power for the GPU, the system won't turn on properly—it only runs the case fans and won't initiate a POST. Without the GPU plugged in, the system will POST just fine. I took my PC to a tech shop, and they confirmed that my GPU is dead as they were able to test other graphics cards successfully. Now I'm stuck deciding whether I should pay to have my 3060 Ti repaired or just buy a new GPU; I'm considering the 5070 Ti as a potential upgrade. Here's my current setup:
- Motherboard: B450M Mortar Max
- Power Supply: MSI MAG 750W 80+ Gold
- CPU: R7 5700X3D
- RAM: 32GB 3200MHz
- GPU: Sadly RIP

Considering it’s been five years, I’d recommend getting a new GPU rather than repairing the old one. Selling the 3060 Ti for parts is a good call since the repair cost might equal its current value.
You could sell your 3060 Ti for parts on eBay and might be able to get around $50 for it. Then go ahead and invest in a new generation GPU. That way, you’ll be set for the next 5+ years!
I think that's a smart move. I was already planning to sell my 3060 Ti to upgrade to the 5070 Ti, but it seems like it decided to give up on me right when I was ready to make that change! Maybe I can still sell it as junk.
Honestly, just get the 5070 Ti. You’ll be very satisfied with the upgrade and it’ll last you a while!

Sounds pretty accurate. I guess opting for a new GPU is the best path for me. Thanks for your insight!
