PCIE Clip Snapped During GPU Reseating

Hey everyone, I ran into a strange issue while reseating my GPU. I took the GPU out for transport while moving houses, and when I booted up my PC, I noticed that the clip at the end of the PCIE slot was missing. I found it stuck in one of my bottom fans. I'm not sure if it broke off while I was seating it or during the move itself. The computer boots up fine and the GPU has an anti-sag bracket, so it seems secure, but I'm wondering if this clip is something I really need to repair. Do I need to worry about it?

Those clips tend to be a bit fragile, but breaking one isn't usually a big deal. Just ensure that your GPU is screwed in at the back and try to avoid shaking the computer. It's likely fine to leave it as is!

It really depends on how it snapped off. If it came off cleanly, you might be able to reattach it. But honestly, as long as your GPU is secured and not at risk of being pulled out, it shouldn't affect your normal use. Just make sure it's seated properly if you ever move it again for cleaning or upgrades.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years back and I've had no issues since. Just keep an eye on your setup and you should be good!

No need to panic! That clip isn't essential for functionality; it's mainly there to hold the GPU in place. If your GPU isn't wiggling around, you should be just fine without it.

Yeah, this goes to show why it's not the best idea to move a whole build without taking out the components first!
