How Can I Transfer Games from My Laptop to a Desktop PC?

I'm looking for a way to transfer games from my laptop to my desktop PC. I heard using a flash drive is the easiest option, but I don't have one right now. I've tried using OneDrive, but that didn't work for me. I've also heard that it's possible to share files over the network, but I'm not quite sure how to do that. Any advice would be really appreciated!

If you're using Steam, it automatically manages installations for you, so transferring isn’t usually a problem. You just need to log in on your desktop, and it can download and install the games for you.

Just a heads up, a laptop and a desktop are pretty similar! I've moved over 200 games from my laptop to an external SSD. A USB SSD works perfectly fine with a desktop. You can also use SATA drives if you have an adapter; they've worked great for me without any issues.

Could you give more details? What specific games are you trying to transfer? Are they through Steam, an emulator, or something else? That info will help get better advice.

You can’t just copy games over to another device directly; they usually need to be installed to work correctly. However, sometimes it does work if you move the game files to an external drive and then install them on the new PC.

That’s not entirely true! I’ve transferred several FPS games from my laptop to an SSD and then plugged it into my desktop, and they worked just fine! It can be hit or miss, though.
