What should I do if Apple won’t refund my MacBook after UPS delivered it to the wrong person?

I ordered a MacBook Pro 14 for my friend studying in California while I'm based in Spain. It cost around $2,662 and was meant as a gift. According to UPS tracking, it was delivered on January 15, but my friend was home and never signed for it; she didn't see anyone either. After contacting Apple, they told me they completed their investigation and won't be providing a refund or a replacement. Frustrated, I pushed UPS for an investigation, and they admitted they delivered it to the wrong person. The tracking now states a claim was issued on my behalf. Despite this, Apple is still refusing to refund me. I'm unsure about my next steps—who should file a police report since I'm in a different country? How can I effectively communicate with Apple support to get this resolved? I'm also worried about potentially initiating a chargeback and the repercussions for my Apple ID. Any advice would be helpful!

Considering UPS admitted fault, I believe Apple should come through for you. It's frustrating, but keep pushing for a resolution!

Honestly, your best bet might be to dispute the charge with your credit card company and consider seeking legal advice. Apple might think it's a scam given the situation—someone in a different country ordering a pricey laptop for someone else. Plus, if UPS tracked the driver at your friend's address when it got delivered, they're unlikely to investigate further without more evidence from you.

Would a police report even help? I'm just worried that a chargeback could blacklist my account and devices.

Have you contacted Apple again after UPS accepted fault? If not, you should call them back, update them on the situation, and ask to speak to a senior advisor if needed. Additionally, where did you buy the MacBook from—the Spanish or US site? That could affect the support you receive.

I did reach out again, but they rejected my claim again.

You might find more specific guidance on handling situations like this on legal forums. It could be beneficial to consult with someone knowledgeable about consumer rights in Europe.
