How Can I Rekindle My Passion for Programming?

I've been a programmer for over 15 years (and around 25 if you count my early hobbyist days), but recently I've lost all joy in it. A combination of factors, including the devaluation of the profession and personal circumstances, has taken the fun out of what used to be my passion. I'm looking for project ideas or activities that can help me rediscover my love for programming—any suggestions?

I've been in the same boat for about 15 years, but I've found some joy in creating simple automation scripts. For example, I made a script that organizes new music files into folders based on artist and album info. Just automating little tasks can be a fun break from the heavy stuff we often tackle at work!

That's a great idea, thanks! I'll definitely try that.

After about 18 years in the game, my worst fear has been losing my love for programming too. I suggest trying quirky projects, like setting up unique hardware or measuring environmental data. Working on personal projects really helps me stay engaged, even when I feel like my time might not be well spent. For instance, I built a basic SIEM last year that reignited my excitement!

I'm really interested in embedded programming. Any recommendations for accessible platforms?
