Hey everyone! I recently got a bonus and decided it's time to build my first gaming PC. I've always settled for pre-built computers and now want to make a setup that can handle 1440p gaming with high to ultra graphics, aiming for around 144-180Hz refresh rate. I'm mainly going to play games like CS2 and want to ensure good value for performance, something future-proof. I chose a micro ATX case due to my desk size and included a WiFi card for backup internet access. Here are the parts I'm planning to use:
- Motherboard: ASRock 650M Pro RS
- WiFi: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210
- Graphics Card: RX 9070 XT OC SAPPHIRE PURE
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Thermal Paste: Arctic MX7
- CPU Cooler: Phantom Spirit EVO 120
- RAM: Patriot Viper Venom 32GB 6000MHz CL30
- Storage: Biwin NV7200 PCIe 4.0 NVME M.2 2TB
- Power Supply: RMX750W
- Operating System: Windows 11
- Case: Asus Prime AP201 (I may need to add a few fans since it might not come with any)
- Monitor: AW2725DM 180Hz 1440p
- Keyboard: AJAZZ AK820 (I chose this for its affordability)
Could you please let me know if there are any red flags or suggestions? Thanks a lot!

The specs seem alright, but I'd suggest avoiding the overclocked graphics card model. They can be great, but might not be necessary for the performance you're looking for. It can sometimes lead to stability issues too.
Overall, I think it looks good but there's room for improvement. You might want to switch to a more reliable motherboard like the Gigabyte B650-E and opt for a 6000MHz RAM kit with CL36, which can be found at similar prices. Also, consider upgrading your PSU to a higher wattage for future upgrades, and invest more in your monitor for a better experience.
Thanks for your in-depth feedback! What’s wrong with the current motherboard? And yes, I initially picked a 180Hz 1440p monitor because they had good reviews.
Your build looks solid but consider getting a motherboard that includes a WiFi card. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy them separately, which I see is your case. Also, don't worry too much about the thermal paste; CPU coolers usually come with it, though having some extra is nice just in case. Good luck!
Yeah, it was indeed cheaper to get them separately with this MOBO, and thanks for the tip about the thermal paste. I appreciate it!
Forget the WiFi card! Instead, just share mobile data through a USB cable if needed; WiFi can bottleneck your speed. As for storage, definitely stick with the 2TB you mentioned. And regarding RAM, you could actually save some cash with slower speeds since your X3D CPU won’t see a huge impact from RAM speeds in real-world use.
For an extra few bucks, it's worth it to avoid a cable sometimes! I’ll stick with the 2TB as planned, and you're saying lower quality RAM would still work if I upgrade CPUs in five years? That sounds reasonable!
Since you're mostly playing CS2, you might get better performance with a 240Hz monitor at 1080p instead of a 180Hz at 1440p. Higher refresh rates can be more beneficial than the resolution depending on your needs!
I genuinely want to dive into the latest games too, which is why I'm aiming for a better resolution. But I’m not at the level that needs a super high refresh rate—yet!

Curious, why would you say that? I chose this one because I've seen good recommendations for it and the pricing wasn't too bad.
