I'm putting together my first PC using some second-hand components. Here's what I've found so far: I'm able to boot when I have one RAM stick in the A2 slot, and both RAM sticks seem to work when I use them together in A1 and A2. However, when I try to use both RAM sticks in the A2 and B2 slots, I can't get the system to POST at all. This leads me to wonder if the issue lies with my CPU or my motherboard. Here are my specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
- CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Pro 70.7 CFM
- Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO ATX AM4
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200
- Storage: Western Digital SN720 256 GB NVMe SSD and Western Digital Blue SN550 500 GB NVMe SSD
- Video Card: NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB
- Case: NZXT H440 ATX Mid Tower
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750x 750W 80+ Gold Modular

Have you tried using the RAM sticks in the A1 and B1 slots at the same time? That could help narrow down the issue. Just a thought!
It's possible there could be some damage, or maybe the CPU isn't seated correctly in its socket. I recommend taking it out and checking for any bent pins or damage. Reseating it could help too. Just make sure you didn't tighten the cooler too much while installing it, as that can also cause problems.
Great idea, I'll check the CPU and reseat it tomorrow. Thanks!
Totally agree, I’ll be careful with the cooler as well.
Have you tried starting the system with just one RAM stick installed? That can sometimes help diagnose issues before going all in with both sticks.

I’ll give that a shot; thanks for the suggestion!
