I'm curious why Notepad in Windows 11 doesn't remember its maximized state when you close it. Other applications like the Settings menu, Control Panel, and File Explorer will reopen maximized if you close them that way. Is there a way to make Notepad do the same, or is this a feature that's just not available?

It seems that Notepad just wasn't designed to retain its maximized state when you close it. Other apps are programmed to do this, but Notepad isn't one of them. Unfortunately, there's no built-in way to change this behavior in Windows 11.
You can try tweaking the shortcut properties. Right-click the Notepad shortcut, go to Properties, and see if you can set it to open maximized. Some have reported success with this, though it might not work for the main Notepad app since it's located in the Windows folder.
I tried that with the main Notepad, but it didn't give me the option to open maximized.

That's frustrating! I don't understand why they didn't make Notepad function like other apps.
