Why is my CPU usage spiking to 97% with nothing running?

I've been facing a frustrating issue with my PC over the past few weeks. Initially, my computer would crash during online games, but I figured out that closing all applications at startup helped. Recently, though, the problem has escalated. Even when I have nothing open, my CPU usage spikes to 97%, causing everything to freeze. I've tried various fixes like SFC scans, antivirus checks, and closing applications, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone experienced something similar or have suggestions on how to resolve this? Just to add, I'm using Windows 11 Pro with an Intel Xeon W-2135 CPU at 3.7 GHz and a 64-bit OS.

You could try disabling the Windows Indexer Service if you don't use it. Sometimes it can chew up CPU resources when indexing files. Just open the services.msc and disable it from there for a moment to see if that helps.

First, check your CPU temperatures. If your CPU is overheating, it could throttle performance. Also, you might want to open Task Manager to see if any hidden processes are consuming the CPU. Sometimes, things run in the background that you may not be aware of.

The CPU is at 30°C, which seems fine, right?
