I'm gearing up for my first KubeCon in Amsterdam, and to be honest, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. There are so many sessions, booths, and networking opportunities that I'm worried I'll end up with just a bunch of stickers and no real takeaways. For those of you who have attended before, what should I focus on to have a productive experience? Should I prioritize sessions or hallway conversations? Are there any common pitfalls I should avoid? How do I pick which talks to attend versus just watching them later? I'd really love some advice on networking without it feeling forced or salesy. I'm there mainly to learn, meet some intelligent folks, and come back with actionable ideas instead of just feeling worn out from the event. Any tips or insights would be greatly appreciated!

First off, don’t stress. I had a plan when I went to my first KubeCon, but I ended up having the best experiences just chatting with people and exploring booths. Make sure to check out events before the main conference; those can be incredibly informative! Keynotes can be hit or miss, so focus on what you genuinely care about, and feel free to leave a session if it's not what you expected. You’ll definitely come back with a ton of stickers, and hopefully, some great contacts too.
You don’t need to attend every session. Focus on the areas you’re most interested in and engage in hallway conversations for real insights. Networking is key! Ask others about their projects and challenges—they’re often more than happy to share. If you’re looking for connections, the project pavilion is a good spot to start. And don’t forget to check out the smaller side events; they can offer valuable opportunities in a relaxed environment.

That's a great point! I found some awesome connections through smaller talks that weren't on the main schedule.
