Why Did My AWS EBS Bill Change This Month?

I recently checked my AWS bill for February, and I'm confused about the charges. Last month, I was billed $0.05 per GB-month for Magnetic provisioned storage, totaling about $7.50 for 150 GB. However, I see that there's no charge for Magnetic Provisioned Storage for the first 14 days of this month. Can anyone explain if there's been a price change? I haven't accessed my AWS console in months, and my usage hasn't changed, so I was expecting a bill around $4.

You can check your billing details by going to "Billing and Cost Management" in the upper right corner of your AWS account. From there, use the "Cost Explorer" to select the date range of the last few months and group the data by "Usage Type." That should help you see what's changed recently and how the pricing compares to your previous bills.

I’m looking at my cost breakdown now, and it’s still a bit tricky. Last month, I paid $6.23 for the first half of the month, and so far this month, it’s only $0.35, which is way less. Do you think they’ll hit me with extra charges at the end of the month? I’d rather not have any surprises!

It's tough to say for sure, but if your usage hasn't changed and your forecast looks low, you might be fine this month. Keep an eye on the cost explorer as your usage for the month progresses, just to be safe!
