Best CPU and GPU Choices for a Budget Gaming and Editing Build

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming and video editing setup on a budget, and I need some advice! I'm planning to hand down my current rig (which has a Ryzen 2700 and RX 590) and I want something that will last for at least the next five years. I'm keeping my 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM. I'm considering two CPUs: the Intel Core i5 14400F for around €157 and the AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT for about €140. For the GPU, I'm looking at several options: the Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition for €280, the GAINWARD GeForce RTX 5060 Ghost 8G for €310, or the ASUS DUAL Radeon RX 9060 XT 16G for €453 (which I'd need to save a bit longer for). My main use will be playing indie games and some titles like Elden Ring and doing video editing with DaVinci Resolve, plus some game development in Unity. I play on a 1080p 144Hz monitor now but want to upgrade to 1440p eventually. I'm in Czechia and would appreciate your thoughts on balancing out these components for future-proofing!

If you already have an AM4 motherboard, the Ryzen 5600XT is a smart choice since you won’t need to buy a new motherboard. But the Intel 5060 is significantly stronger than the B580, so if you’re set on graphics, it might be worth prioritizing the GPU first. That said, for longevity, go for the RX 9060XT — you won’t regret it!

I built a budget home server with 32GB DDR4, a 5600XT, and a 5060, and it performed surprisingly well for gaming. Just like everyone is saying, investing in a 16GB card like the RX 9060XT would be a smarter long-term move. The 5600XT handles games great too, so it’s a solid option if you're keeping your current setup before upgrading further!

I think going for the Ryzen 5600XT and RX 9060XT is your best bet for a balanced setup. The 9060XT is definitely more powerful and will serve you well in the long run for both gaming and editing over the next five years.

Avoid those 8GB cards if longevity is key for you! For reference, the Intel Core i5 14400F is a solid choice over the 5600XT based on performance benchmarks, especially since it can accommodate a DDR5 upgrade later on without needing a whole new setup. But honestly, both CPUs are great. Just keep the VRAM in mind for your GPU choice – I’d recommend the RX 9060XT with 16GB, it’s the best of the bunch.

Thanks for the insight! So, how about the 12GB option for VRAM? Would it hold up or is the RX 9060 a wise investment?

Great point! The 16GB option definitely looks more future-proof, especially with upcoming games.
