How can I ensure my PC is malware-free after Malwarebytes quarantined some items?

I recently had a scare when Malwarebytes detected four items on my PC and quarantined them. I was trying to use HandBrake to move some clips, and after installing it, my computer started acting strangely, like spamming tabs uncontrollably. I ran a scan with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, which flagged some files as RiskWare.SystemRequirementsLab. I'm currently using the Microsoft Removal Tool as well, but I'm worried. What steps should I take next to ensure my PC is completely safe? I've only had my computer for a few months and I've never experienced anything like this before, so I could really use some guidance.

A lot of malware issues happen when downloading from unofficial sources, so always be careful there! Since you mentioned downloading from handbrake.fr, that’s the right place, but sometimes malware can come bundled in with other downloads. Keep your software updated, and be cautious with apps that come from ads or links that look suspicious.

HandBrake is generally safe if downloaded from the official site, but sometimes things can slip through the cracks. Just to be sure, make sure you download software directly from the creator's website and avoid any third-party download sites or any sponsored links. It’s wise to uninstall anything you might’ve installed right before the issues started and run another scan with both Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. If they come back clean and your PC acts normally, you should be okay.

After quarantining the files, I'd recommend running another scan to check for any leftover issues. If everything checks out fine and your PC is behaving, you might not have anything to worry about. However, if your anxiety persists, consider doing a clean reinstall of Windows, but remember that this will erase everything, so be sure to back up your important files.
