I'm having a frustrating issue with my Windows 11 PC where the audio has completely stopped working. Initially, I noticed that the volume bar was missing and it indicated that the audio service was disabled. I was able to restart the audio service and the Audio Endpoint Builder, which brought the volume bar back, and now all my audio devices are showing up and are reported to be working fine. However, there's still no sound coming out of any of them.
I've reinstalled the Realtek drivers from the Asus website, making sure to get the latest ones based on my motherboard model. I've also checked all the audio devices, including headphones, speakers, and HDMI audio from my monitor, and they all appear in the sound settings but are not producing any audio. The audio signal isn't even displayed in the sound settings, even though I can adjust the volume.
This issue happened suddenly; it was working fine the day before, and I shut down my PC normally. Additionally, my media player isn't functioning either—it just shows the logo and disappears without even appearing in the task manager.
My motherboard is an Asus Prime B660M-K D4.

Have you checked the Event Viewer for any audio-related errors that might give a clue about what's going wrong? You might find something useful that aligns with the timing of when the audio stopped working.
Honestly, Windows can be such a pain with all the bloatware and optimization issues. I regret upgrading to Windows 11 since Windows 10 with debloaters was much more stable.
Make sure you have the Realtek Audio Console app installed. Sometimes, if there's just one audio jack, it can mess with the output settings. Check if it has a setting regarding disabling front panel detection—this worked for me on similar setups!
I found the app, and it indicates everything's fine. I tried both the front case audio jacks and the motherboard ports, but still no sound.
I switched to Linux ages ago, so I might not have all the details, but I remember the Realtek audio panel having an option to ‘disable front panel detection.’ That was a lifesaver for me—maybe give that a shot!

I totally agree. I stuck with it due to worries about my apps and games being compatible. I might just have to consider a switch if this keeps up!
