Can We Set Up Family Sharing with Different Payment Methods?

I'm looking to set up family sharing with my girlfriend since we both have existing setups—I'm on a plan with my son and she is with her two kids. Since we don't live together yet, we want to share subscriptions like AppleOne without mixing our finances too much. The main question is whether we can manage which credit card is charged when our kids make purchases. For example, I want to ensure if my son makes an in-app purchase, it goes on my card, but any purchases made by her kids should be charged to her card. Is there a way to separate the payment methods for each child in this family sharing setup?

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't support multiple payment methods for family sharing. You'll have to stick with a single credit or debit card for all transactions. If one of your kids makes a purchase, it will always charge the card that is linked to the family sharing account.

Got it! So if I buy a gift card and add it to my son’s account, will that be used for any in-app purchases before it charges the card? That might be a good way around it.
