A while back, many websites featured the "Sign in with..." options without any popups, but I've noticed that for the past year or two, the "Sign in with Google" button now brings up a popup asking users to sign in. This change is frustrating. Can anyone explain why Google made this shift? How can websites still use Google sign-in without this popup, and is it something that can be disabled?

The popup isn't a default feature but has to be added by the website developer. For example, if a site like Reddit realizes most users log in via Google, they might opt to include that popup for easier sign-in.

Really? That seems unlikely. I can't imagine any developer would intentionally enable this popup.
