I recently purchased a Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB hard drive and transferred 60 movies onto it. However, I'm having trouble getting it to work with my Hisense TV, which is about a year old. The TV doesn't seem to recognize the drive at all. When I connect it to my PC, the device manager indicates that 'further installation is needed.' I checked the Seagate website for firmware updates using the drive's serial number, but it says no firmware is available. I'm really at a loss here because older hard drives used to set themselves up easily on my PC within minutes.

Definitely look at the manual for your TV to see what file formats it supports for playback, as well as what file systems it can read. Make sure your movies are in a compatible format. If all else fails, VLC Media Player can help with unsupported file formats on your PC, but the TV may still have limits on the drive it can use.
You've got to ensure the TV has the right USB port type. It seems like your HDD needs a USB 3.0 port, so if your TV doesn't have one, that could be why it's not working. Might be worth checking if your TV model supports USB 3.0 connections.
You might need to format the hard drive to a file system that your TV can read. Check which format your TV supports so you can set it up correctly. What specific model of Hisense TV do you have?
Typically, external drives should work with most TVs, but it's possible your TV doesn't support your specific drive. It could also be that the drive requires a different kind of setup. Have you checked the manual for USB compatibility?
