I'm having some trouble with my SFTP connection and I'm not really sure how to figure out where the problem lies. My SFTP account with rsync.net has suddenly stopped allowing me to upload or download files larger than a few megabytes. The transfer is dreadfully slow, leading to timeouts, and this is affecting my scheduled Duplicati backups. It's worth mentioning that I can still connect and transfer files to other servers like pair.com without a hitch. I've checked my home network and reset the modem/router, but that didn't make a difference. I've contacted rsync.net support, but they're not reporting any issues on their end. Can anyone help me understand what might be going wrong and how to escalate this to the right people for help? What should I be looking for or testing?

This could be a firewall issue. Sometimes, firewalls can block or interfere with SFTP connections, especially if they’re dropping ICMP messages.
Just to clarify, it sounds like everything was fine before, but now uploads and downloads to rsync.net are seriously slow. Is that accurate?
Have you tried testing your connection from a different ISP? It might help narrow things down.
I did actually! I SSH'd into my shared hosting at pair.com and downloaded a 341MB file from rsync.net without a hitch. I even tried using my phone's 5G connection to download and while it was slow, it worked fine. It’s really strange that my home connection is the only one having issues.

Exactly! It’s only happening with rsync.net. When I try to send or retrieve anything large, the connection fails after a while. Smaller files seem to go through, but bigger ones just time out.
