Hey everyone! So I've got a Ryzen 9 9800X3D in my setup, and while it does a decent job for gaming, I sometimes deal with a few stutters. I'm gaming on a 4K monitor with an RX 6900 XT, which is pretty good, but I also do some heavy tasks like compiling kernels, and honestly, it's pretty slow. I'm considering upgrading to either the Ryzen 9 9950X (without V-Cache) or the 9950X3D. My question is: if I go for the 9950X, will it negatively impact my gaming performance at 4K? Would it be smarter to spend a bit more for the 9950X3D? I've heard that the V-Cache mainly benefits gaming—any thoughts? At the same time, I'm not really focused on maxing out FPS since my monitor has a 160 Hz refresh rate.

As a 9950X3D owner, I'd say stick with your 9800X3D if gaming is your main priority. For games, you’ll probably just use one CCD anyway, so any gains with the 9950X3D might be minimal. If you're also doing heavy tasks like compiling, the 9950X3D can save you time, but weigh the cost versus the benefits here.
I chose the 9950X3D to have the best of both worlds. But honestly, I don't think the 6900 XT will perform significantly worse with the 9950X compared to the 9800X3D. Those stutters could likely be a GPU issue, too, so upgrading your graphics card might be a better move.
The 3D V-Cache really shines in gaming. If you're at 4K with your RX 6900 XT, the performance difference between the 9950X and the 9950X3D isn’t going to be that noticeable. I’d recommend saving some cash and sticking with the non-X3D model.
Definitely go for the 9950X3D if you want top-tier performance. Just my two cents from my own experience with it!
Hey, it might be more of a GPU problem causing those stutters than your CPU. At 4K, your current CPU is pretty solid. You might want to consider upgrading your graphics card instead!

But even then, OP might still see a drop in gaming performance. Moving from the top-tier AM5 non-X3D to another CPU might actually be a downgrade.
