Hey everyone, I'm in the process of building a high-end gaming PC capable of running AAA titles at solid settings. With the current market situation, I'm curious about how much of a difference DDR5 RAM actually makes when compared to DDR4. Will going with DDR4 significantly affect my gaming experience, or is the performance advantage of DDR5 only noticeable in the top-tier setups? Thanks!

If you're looking to save some cash while getting DDR5, consider checking for bundles at places like Micro Center. They often have deals that include a CPU and motherboard with DDR5, making it more feasible to upgrade.

Ultimately, your choice might depend on budget and availability. DDR5 is becoming essential as new CPUs are designed around it. If you're building now, it might not be wise to spend too much on outdated DDR4 components, especially when many DDR4 systems aren't getting significant updates anymore.

DDR5 can be around 20% faster than DDR4, particularly in CPU-limited scenarios. Even mid-range GPUs can see benefits, especially when gaming at 1080p. Just keep in mind that the improvements can vary depending on the CPU you pair it with, especially if you opt for locked models.

If you're aiming for a high-end setup, DDR5 is likely the way to go. The latest AMD AM5 platform only supports DDR5 and offers impressive performance for gaming. Even Intel's newer CPUs (like the Core Ultra series) focus on DDR5 for productivity tasks, so it's becoming standard for top builds.

You don't necessarily need to rush into DDR5 right now. 16GB of DDR5 should handle most games just fine. A possible strategy might be to build your system on the new platform and upgrade RAM later when prices go down, especially since many AM5 CPUs and motherboards are becoming more affordable.
